Falcon's EDU tier unlocks Falcon to anyone want to learn to build robust AI models with digital twin simulation

Today we’re thrilled to introduce an educational, non commercial EDU license and learning subscription. EDU is available to all learners and includes:

  • FalconEditor — Freedom to build any personal simulation projects: Participants can explore the platform’s extensive feature set, while simulating real-world scenarios and generating high-quality synthetic data for AI training.
  • Guided learning materials and live classes: Duality’s team of AI and simulation experts have crafted a curriculum designed to build a strong foundation in synthetic data workflows for building robust AI models. In addition, all learners get access to in depth classes, expert Q&As, and how-to tutorials on creating diverse simulation scenarios.
  • Digital Twin catalog: A perpetually expanding library of free-to-use, professionally developed digital twins (environments, systems, and items) to streamline simulation design, guided by the needs of and input from our community of users.
  • Community forums: Learners will gain access to an online community, staffed by Duality’s team, where they can ask questions, collaborate on projects, and share their progress.
  • Anyone can start their free trial here.

Along with the debut of the EDU subscription, the Falcon 4.4 release also features:

  • Expanded digital twin catalog: A new, expansive collection of simulation-ready digital twins and environments available to all Falcon users at no extra cost, making building simulations easier than ever.
  • New IR sensor available to all users: The real-time and tunable physics-based IR is now integrated into FalconEditor with a select set of ready Environment Twins.
  • Ubuntu 22.04: This release brings FalconEditor onto Ubuntu, and marks FalconSim’s advance to 22.04 (previously only supported on 20.04). Full product suite support on 22.04 now makes Falcon available to robotics oriented users operating with ROS2 Humble.

EDU License — The Hands-on Way to Learn Effective AI Model Training

Guided exercises will teach all learners best practices for achieving optimal results with synthetic data

Why are we introducing the EDU license?

Simply put, we believe there couldn’t be a more perfect time to introduce our EDU license! As AI continues to integrate into our physical world, digital twin simulation and synthetic data are seeing increasing adoption to meet the training and testing needs in diverse applications. And while Falcon is being leveraged by an expanding range of diverse organizations, the need for contributors fluent in these workflows is also growing. We are committed to helping anyone gain the skills required to successfully train robust AI models with synthetic data.

For years, our customers have trusted Falcon to meet their data requirements, and relied on our team’s expertise to get the best training results from that data. To help our EDU subscribers master these techniques, we are distilling the collective knowledge of our team of AI, simulation, synthetic data, and computer vision experts into guided exercises for any curious learner. Our goal is to set anyone on a sure-footed path to building any AI model they can imagine.

The vision of Duality has long been to use virtual worlds to solve real problems — and that is exactly what we have dedicated ourselves to since the start. Along the way we’ve helped our customers meet ambitious goals and leverage digital twin simulation for some truly exciting projects (RACER link, AWS Weaver link). But in our hearts, we’ve remained a team of nerdy tinkerer pioneers. We love to learn, explore, and build. And we long to share our discoveries and foster a community that is also invested in a better, safer, and more capable AI future.

Who can sign up for the EDU license?

The EDU license is designed for everyone (no requirement to be a current student!) interested in learning how to build high-performing AI models by leveraging digital twin generated synthetic data. There is truly no experience required. Starting today it is open to all non-commercial users, including students, academic researchers, educators, and the simply curious.

Start today, and get 1 month free!

Researchers, educators, and universities/learning institutions interested in larger count licenses are encouraged to contact Duality to discuss any specific questions or arrangements by emailing: edu@duality.ai.

A focus on vision: guided exercises for training real AI models

Reliable and accurate AI vision models are already an indispensable need across many industrial sectors. Our customers have achieved 98+% accuracy in perception tasks with synthetic data alone. How are they able to accomplish this? It’s not magic, but it does take some know-how, as well as an understanding of best practices that we’ve fine-tuned over years of work with a diverse customer base.

To help our EDU subscribers build the foundations they need to succeed with their own projects, our exercise will start with the basics (like training YOLO v8 to accurately detect a box of Cheerios in real-world photos) and gradually evolve to much more complex tasks (like understanding the surroundings in a complex outdoor environment).

Freedom to create — without getting lost

In addition to the AI vision model exercises, we're helping all learners build their own simulations for any non-commercial applications they want to pursue. We have always carried the spirit of open-source ethos in our work. We believe in the power of freedom and collaboration. However, open-source tools often come with steep learning curves, limited support, and scattered documentation. That’s why we’re dedicated to empowering learners with the resources they need to master Falcon so they can take on their own projects with confidence.

For our EDU subscribers, we’re going above and beyond to make the journey easier, offering a robust suite of learning tools and support, including:

  • Deep-Dive Classes
Join scheduled sessions that tackle skill gaps head-on. Whether it’s game engine fundamentals, behavior scripting, or advanced digital twin creation, these classes ensure no learner is left behind.
  • Engaging Video Tutorials
Learn essential skills through step-by-step videos created by our expert team, covering topics like environment creation, reflection systems, and more.
  • Live and Recorded Q&A Sessions with Our Team of Simulation Experts
Got questions? Our experts are here to help. Whether it’s troubleshooting or advice on complex simulations, connect in real-time or catch up on recorded sessions anytime.
  • Comprehensive Documentation
Access the same in-depth materials we provide to leading industry teams—clear, detailed, and designed to guide you every step of the way.
  • Always-Expanding Digital Twin Library
Not having the required digital twins can be a challenge. But as EDU subscribers learn to create their own, we also grow the library of available twins anyone can use — at no extra cost. The evolution of this library is always guided by the needs of our user community. Not finding the digital twins you need? Let us know on Discord, and we’ll keep adding the digital twins that expand your simulation horizons.

With these tools at your disposal, we’re making sure the path to mastering Falcon, and building your own projects, is as intuitive and rewarding as possible.

Building a community of innovators

Beyond technical skills, the EDU program is about fostering creativity and collaboration. Participants are encouraged to experiment, develop their own projects, and explore applications of synthetic data in their chosen fields. Whether it's testing AI algorithms for robotics, designing autonomous systems, or even learning new applications for your 3D modeling skills — the possibilities are as diverse as the learners themselves.

Duality AI envisions this program as the seed for a vibrant community of innovators who will drive the future of AI. To help this community come together and to ensure support for all learners we created the first Duality Discord server. All EDU subscribers will be able to access the server, ask questions, attend webinars, find collaborators, and much more.

Ready to explore your future in AI?

The Duality AI EDU subscription is more than just a learning opportunity — it’s a bridge from individual curiosity to a near-future skillset developed to take on the challenges of building safe, predictable, and reliable AI models. Ready to begin?

New Environment Twins

With our GIS pipeline, creating new environment twins has never been faster. Today we’ve added more than a dozen 1km x 1km environment twins to the catalog. All of them are rural site twins — digital twins of real world geolocations. Here’s a small sample of the new additions, presented with the bird’s-eye view on the left, and a view from ground-level on the right:

New Item Twins

Our catalog of items twins is growing even faster. Hundreds of high-fidelity digital twins are available to be leveraged for any simulation right now — with many more arriving in the coming months. Below is just a tiny sample of the item twins added in the last week.
